what you need to know
- Pixel Buds Pro 2 have reportedly appeared in two databases as Google continues its charging case certification process.
- The listing shows that the case may come with a 650mAh battery capacity, which is an increase of 30mAh from 2022.
- Little else is known about the headset, but we can review its initial specs.
Information about Google’s upcoming Pixel Buds Pro models has emerged following its overseas certification debut.
According to 91Mobiles, UL Demko (Denmark) and Safety Korea discovered a supposed charging case for the Pixel Buds Pro 2. For the former, the case’s listing shows model number GH8TQ, and the database suggests it has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery.
Importantly, the battery capacity of the charging box is 650mAh.
Photos of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 charging case battery appeared in Safety Korea’s listing. However, as Google continues the certification process, no further images of the device (such as its case) have been found in the database.
No further information about the Buds was detailed in the supposed Pro 2 listing either. The publication speculates that the upcoming device could be announced sometime after I/O 2024 in May, where it will (ideally) be officially announced. There are rumors that the device may be delayed until Google launches the Pixel 9 series in the fall.
While rumors about new devices are limited, we have the original 2022 Pixel Buds Pro to review. The initial device comes with a charging case with a 620mAh battery, which means the battery capacity could be increased by 30mAh if the rumors are true. As the publication points out, the Buds Pro offer an extended battery life of 31 hours. The increase may result in a slight increase in that number, but we’ll have to wait to find out for sure.
In addition, the original Buds Pro can last for about 11 hours with ANC disabled and 7 hours with ANC turned on. If Google wants to increase the battery capacity of its charging case, the earphones may also have a larger battery capacity.
Additionally, with Google’s new foray into artificial intelligence, perhaps we’re looking at Gemini influencing the Buds Pro 2.
It remains to be seen what Google is preparing to bring to I/O 2024. Rumor has it that the company’s fall event could be crowded, as the upcoming Fold successor could be moving to later this year. If Google does delay the release of the Buds Pro 2 until the fall, we might see even more excitement.
The sound is clearer with just a little bass
Launched in July 2022, the Google Pixel Buds Pro feature significant improvements over the base Buds model. The Pro version has rich, clear sound and good performance with ANC (Active Noise Cancellation). Buds Pro include stable and responsive touch controls so users can easily control music and take calls.
