- Telegram launches Sticker Editor – a new way to create personal stickers
- Created stickers can be combined into sticker groups that can be shared with other users.
- Telegram also plans to bring 16 new features to the platform later this month.
Telegram is introducing a new feature to the popular messaging platform that will let anyone quickly create stickers and entire sticker collections thanks to a new editor.
In an announcement blog post, Telegram explains how the feature works and shows it in action. Users can easily select any photo from their device’s gallery and “add text, drawings — or one of the myriad animated stickers, emojis, and GIFs that exist on the platform.” For example, a simple photo of a cat can be turned into visual art without much effort on the part of the user.
Users can further select photos and “cut objects and remove backgrounds” with just one click. Telegram notes that they can also manually erase parts of photos or restore them, and even add outlines for a “classic sticker look.”
Users can go to the app’s keyboard, open the stickers pane, and click the “+” button to ultimately open the new sticker tool. Once a sticker is created, they can send it or add all similar stickers to a separate sticker set that can be pulled up when needed, just like emojis.
The feature works similarly to the WhatsApp photo editor, allowing users to generate stickers from their device’s photo album. Google Messages has a similar feature called Photomoji that allows users to react to messages using photos or send them as stickers.
Sticker sets can be created and Telegram will use the app’s artificial intelligence to suggest different emojis that correspond to the image, which you can then select in a chat the next time you use a specific emoji.
“On Telegram, emojis act as shortcuts to stickers. When you type emojis into a chat, Telegram automatically offers matching stickers that you can send.”
Telegram, one of the most popular messaging platforms, has had stickers for less than a decade. However, this new ability to create versions is a refreshing change that adds more personality to conversations. Users can combine existing and new themes into a single package.
Additionally, once a user has created a sticker and placed it in a sticker set, they cant.me” links that other Telegram users can add to their accounts. The new update also adds “concise link previews of all sticker and emoji sets.”
In addition to stickers, Telegram said it plans to announce at least 16 new features on the messaging platform later this month.
