Although Dragon’s Dogma 2’s pieces are useful, they tend to chatter a lot, so thankfully there’s a mod that stops them from talking too much.
Picture this: you’re walking down a dirt road, blissfully happy, having just defeated a bunch of goblins, enjoying the peace and quiet, when suddenly you hear… “Look, up, a chest!” and then “Look, Up, a ladder!” again, and again. Such chatter can make anyone nervous after a while (they certainly made me nervous), and while I appreciate how helpful Dragon’s Dogma 2’s chess pieces are, I wish they were a little less talkative. Fortunately for me and others in a similar predicament, there is a mod that completely solves this problem.

The mod is simply called ShutUpPawns and is primarily a “walk your talk” type of mod, although it’s actually a bit more complicated than just shutting down dialogue. Essentially, the mod lets you put various conversations into a blocklist so they don’t tell you every ladder and chest under the sun, among other conversations. It lets you fine-tune specific dialogue so your pieces can tell you information about chests, for example, because I certainly don’t need to know every ladder we encounter. On top of that, you can also prevent your pieces from high-fiving you, although I personally would keep that in mind as I think it’s a cute little touch.
The modders of Dragon’s Dogma 2 have certainly been working hard to make the experience easier. Those who find Dragon Plague a little too frustrating might be interested in checking out a mod that puts your pieces’ infection levels directly on their foreheads.
