After showcasing the Camon 30 Premier 5G at MWC 2024 in February, TECNO has finally launched the Camon 30 Premier 5G, marking a big step forward for the company’s camera-focused phone range.
The Camon 30 Premier 5G showcases TECNO’s own imaging system for the first time. TECNO claims that it has a 4K 30fps full-scene AI noise reduction HDR video function that can change the rules of the game.
According to TECNO, this means you get ultra-clear, detailed video and lifelike colors, even if you’re on dimming settings. The imaging device, called PolarAce, uses Sony’s CXD5622GG imaging chip to do all this. TECNO says you can even capture the stunning auroras in the north or the mesmerizing dusk scenes in the desert.
On top of that, you also get four 50MP lenses, paired with the Sony IMX890 50MP OIS main camera. In addition, there is a periscope telephoto lens that provides 3x optical zoom and 60x digital zoom. In addition, there is a macro lens that can keep the subject sharp even if the distance is only 2.5 cm.
On the front, the phone comes with a 50MP selfie camera. It can even track your eyes and focus in the blink of an eye, so you always look your best in your photos.
But a phone is more than just a camera, and the Camon 30 Premier seems to have all the foundations for solid performance. It features a 6.77-inch 120Hz AMOLED display, is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate 5G chip, and has up to 24GB of RAM (including 12GB of expanded memory) and 512GB of flash storage.
Although it is not a flagship chipset, it keeps everything running smoothly even if you use a lot of apps or games. Additionally, it comes with a 10-layer “gaming grade” cooling system and a large 5,000mAh battery.
The battery supports 70W charging, which can charge the phone from 0% to 50% in just 16 minutes. TECNO claims the battery can withstand up to 1,600 charge cycles and maintain at least 80% health for four years.
Similar to the Camon 30 series that debuted earlier this month, Premier models come equipped with AI-based tricks. One of them, called “AI Erase,” claims to remove unwanted content from photos. There’s also a feature called “Universal Tone,” which is said to use artificial intelligence to determine the exact skin tone in a snap, no matter your skin tone.
Camon 30 Premier 5G will be available globally starting in May. Pricing will vary by region, and it has not yet been confirmed whether it will be available in the United States (past TECNO phones have not yet been released).
