The director of Fallout New Vegas shared some notes from the development process and finally revealed a lunch the team once had

I don’t know about you, but there’s only one way I can celebrate the arrival of Amazon’s Fallout TV show before it airs. I replayed Fallout New Vegas. If you do too, the good news is that game director Josh Sawyer has just shared a new look at some of his development notes for the game.

Yes, get ready to pause your Twitter video more times than anyone should to try and see who makes Mr. House’s beard look so beautiful in a big-screen rendering. Sadly, those details don’t appear to be there, but there are some other interesting bits.

In a thread on the Sawyer Society Later it was discovered that it was his result While looking for a copy of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, he took a quick look at the three laptops he used during the development of New Vegas. The dates attached to the content indicate that the notes began around 2009, when the team was working on building the base game’s world and missions, and continued into 2010, when they began working on things like refinement—tweaking weapon mechanics and Planning some DLC.

Most of what is shown in the video is just a brief team meeting transcript, which outlines that certain developers were busy working on certain things on certain days, but no further details beyond that are provided. Obviously this is all fun if you’re just keen to learn, or refer to who’s responsible for helping bring certain parts of the game to life, but there are a few things that strike me as perhaps more important to note.

The first is “DLC 02” which Sawyer is already busy working on for the game – if that number matches the order of the DLC’s eventual release in January 2010, this will be “Honest Hearts”. The second is on the first laptop of a developer – whose name/nickname is a bit hard to decipher, but looks like it could be “Trenty” – who is busy “seducing Benny”, something we’ve done ourselves many times It’s been years since the game came out. It’s okay, you can admit it.

That said, the most important detail the notebook gives us is what some members of the team ordered when Sawyer picked up meals from Chipotle. This is in the second notebook, so I estimate that sometime around late 2009, Mike had a beef burrito and Charlie had what looked like a chicken burrito (I’m not too sure about this OK, even after consulting Chipotle’s website), Matt got a chicken fajita. The latter also appeared to have ordered all the salsa the restaurant had to offer, which was an option.

Sorry if you’re hungry now. Also, if you’ve been digging into Fallout 4 instead of New Vegas and playing the game on Xbox, it looks like Bethesda’s investigative report suggests that the game’s achievements on that platform aren’t working as expected.
