Today WhatsApp announced a new feature: chat filters. These will filter your chat list based on different criteria.
There are three of these filters, and they appear above the chat list for easy one-click access. Their names are pretty self-explanatory: All, Unread, Groups.
So, obviously, clicking “All” will show all chats. If you click “Unread” you will only see those messages that have unread messages (whether you haven’t opened the chat after receiving the new message, or messages marked as unread), if you click “Groups” , you’ll only see your groups. Group chats and community subgroups.
That’s it. WhatsApp says that opening its app and finding the right conversation “should feel fast, seamless and easy,” and these filters will definitely help with all of that. At the very least, you’ll need less scrolling.
Chat filters start rolling out today and will be available to all WhatsApp users “in the coming weeks.”
