Hey, Helldivers 2’s latest patch fixes a bunch of annoying mid-mission crashes – and snowball fights are back on the menu, baby

Helldivers 2 has just received another new patch, and I’m happy to report that one of the fixes finally means crash-free snowball fights are back on the menu! Oh, and it should also correct some of the other annoying freezing issues that have been leaving many players at a frustrating standstill during gameplay.

Yes, while some bad things may happen now that the galaxy is free of the droid threat — this win temporarily keeps the game from platinum — all is well with the world for now. In less than two weeks, you should be able to throw snowballs at your partner for the first time without worrying that doing so might crash the game.

As recently revealed via the game’s Discord server, Helldivers 2’s patch 01.000.202 is primarily focused on stopping the game from crashing under a number of different circumstances. The incident that sparked the most outrage in the community was one that occurred during the evacuation [from a mission] right after it”, but you’ll be happy to know that crashes in these and many other missions should now be a thing of the past.

While all of these – including fixes for issues such as crashes caused by your squad deploying “massive support weapons” and players dying while flying with a jetpack – are good things, one stands out above the rest. Arrowhead Fixed a crash that could occur “when the player picks up a snowball.”

So, now you’re free to annoy people again, and you’d normally be lazy when you should be trying to take down the enemies that infest the galaxy’s many cold planets. I don’t know about you, but this is exactly the solution I’ve been waiting for.

The patch also ensures that “picking up medals and super points will no longer lock players in place,” and includes weapon UI changes aimed at better understanding the blast damage caused by weapons like the PLAS-1 Scorcher.

Oh, and before I forget, Arrowhead also recently suggested via Discord that if you see a “rogue item” called “Directory Extensions” in the ship management menu, you should avoid it for now, seemingly because it’s not supposed to be visible.

To be fair, why would you bother with it when your friend’s face is covered in white stuff?
