Roku has announced the launch of its new Roku Pro series of TVs, which will feature Mini-LED backlighting on 4K, QLED screens. Mini-LED screens are everywhere, with companies trying to match the deepest blacks and stunning contrast ratios achieved by OLED screens without actually making them. The Roku Pro series will also come with HDR10+, which offers impressive brightness, and Dolby Vision IQ, a feature designed to optimize Dolby Vision based on the lighting in the room.

The TV also prioritizes aesthetics. The TV has a thin frame less than two inches wide and can be placed flush with the wall with Roku’s Slim Wall Mount Kit.

The Roku Pro Series TVs are available in 55-, 65- and 75-inch models, ranging in price from $899.99 to $1,699.99, and the Roku Slim Wall Kit is available starting this month at Best Buy stores nationwide and online for $99.99.

Backlighting, a USB-C rechargeable battery, and personalized shortcut buttons all promise to make the new Roku Voice Remote Pro more useful and adaptable to your viewing experience. I personally like the addition of the remote find feature, which sounds a beep on the remote when prompted by an app, a button on the TV, or just your voice so you can find it wherever it lands between cushions or under the couch .

There’s been a lot of talk lately about TVs calibrating and optimizing content for movie fidelity, with filmmakers telling consumers what to turn off on their TVs and manufacturers racing to create a theater-like experience at home. For its part, Roku is launching Roku Smart Picture, a feature that automatically adjusts basic settings on your TV like backlight, uniformity, and color based on the type of TV you have (I assume this means based on screen type, resolution) and video formats). For some applications, a specific picture mode will be selected to optimize brightness and color.

There will also be new features to better understand and organize the content you want to watch. Roku will integrate IMDB ratings and launch trailers to better help viewers understand all the content available. Roku also says a new “What to Watch” section will showcase higher-rated movies, and updated save lists will make it easier to keep track of what you’re watching and what you want to watch. The upgraded mobile app also promises improved search functionality.
