Lionsgate will be showcasing a slate of upcoming projects at CinemaCon today, but Deadline reports that there have been some changes to the release dates of some of its films. One of the most notable is the remake of “The Crow,” directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Bill Skarsgård, which has its release date moved from June 7 to August 23. This obviously won’t change people’s opinions of the film once it’s released, so it’s unclear why such a change was made.

In case you didn’t know, the original 1994 version of “The Crow” unfortunately resulted in the death of its star, Brandon Lee, when he was accidentally shot by a prop gun. The film was apparently eventually completed, using Lee’s stand-in for the remaining scenes, but understandably this left the film with a sadder tone than it already had (the main character actually died and then was resurrected as part of the story )). The upcoming remake is already proving to be controversial, and even original director Alex Proyas doesn’t seem too happy with its existence.
The first trailer for the film was released last month, and it looks pretty good so far, but you’ll have to wait until August to see it in action now. “The Crow” isn’t the only movie to have its release date changed. “Saw” has also been postponed from September 27 this year to September 26, 2025, seemingly to help development. “Never Let Me Go,” a psychological thriller starring Halle Berry about a mother who protects her twin sons from an evil intruder, is now set to be released on September 27, replacing “Saw 11”.
