Google appears to be working on a new manager for Gmail users to help reduce the subscriptions clogging up their inboxes.
As PunikaWeb discovered, Google plans to implement a new “Manage Subscriptions” section for the Gmail app (via 9to5Google ). The new admin options found in the latest version of Gmail (v2024.04.07.62) now appear in the sidebar, accessible via the hamburger menu icon.
Digging deeper into the code reveals how it works. Clicking on this option will take users to a dedicated “Subscription” page.
Several newly added strings of code indicate that users will find an “unsubscribe from the mailing list button.” Other strings are speculated to be filters because they show a specific number of “subscription” emails the user received “per quarter.” The number of emails varies from 10 to a maximum of 20 emails.
If a company falls within one of these parameters, the publication notes, users should see the company’s logo as well as a button that allows them to easily unsubscribe from these emails.
Additionally, some users on Reddit saw alerts in the Gmail app notifying them of the new subscription page. The new page will allow users to “view all mailing lists and unsubscribe from unwanted messages,” the alert said.

Interestingly, this “Manage” page appears to be an extension of Google’s previous update for Gmail subscriptions. In January, the company rolled out an option for Gmail that puts a convenient “unsubscribe” button next to the sender’s name when reading an email. After clicking on it, users will be taken to the company’s unsubscription process as usual.
This is a way to make it easier and more comfortable to delete unwanted subscriptions, since the option was previously hidden in the three-dot menu.
In addition to the mailing list, the Gmail app was recently spotted testing a new “Summary this email” feature. This is part of Gemini’s functionality that allows users to get the gist of the email without reading it.
