After a long wait, the first trailer is finally out Joker 2AKA Joker: Folie à Deux is here, and honestly, it looks pretty good.
One of the biggest questions surrounding “Joker 2” is whether it is a musical. Presumably, this isn’t one, but the first trailer for the film was released yesterday at CinemaCon, and I have a hard time believing it. In the trailer, we finally get a look at Lady Gaga’s Harley Quinn, and although the trailer is only a few minutes long, it’s hard to get a good feel for her performance. However, what we’ve seen of her performance so far looks pretty good, which is no surprise for this talented actor.

Director Todd Phillips did appear at CinemaCon to discuss the film, saying the original intention was to make just one Joker movie, but while speaking with star Joaquin Phoenix, the two talked about making another. department, “because it was so much fun and we loved Arthur and the Joker characters so much.” Then, the pandemic happened, and the two brought up the idea again, “and now here we are.”

As for whether the film is a musical, Phillips still can’t confirm if it’s a musical at all. “We’ve never really talked about the movie like this [as a musical],” the director said (via Polygon). “I would say this is a film where music is an essential element. To me, it’s not that different from the first movie. When I first described Arthur, I interpreted him as a strange loner who had music in him. ”
At the very least, it’s pretty obvious that the movie was inspired by the musical, as there are several feature film/studio shots that resemble scenes from any classic musical, so for now you’ll just have to wait until it hits theaters on October 4 to find out if Yes or no.
