‘Disrespectful..rude..cringeful..’ Meghan Markle faces internet backlash after embarrassing moment at polo match

Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, found herself under scrutiny after a video of a polo match attracted attention online on April 12. The event, held at the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington, Florida, in support of Duke University’s Sentebale Charities, attracted approximately 300 participants.

The Duchess wore an all-white ensemble as she attended a charity match with Prince Harry. However, one particular moment captured in a viral video sparked controversy. In the video, Markle appears to awkwardly advise a woman not to pose with Prince Harry but to stand next to her instead.

The incident occurred during the ceremony, when a woman, possibly a participant in the polo match, joined Prince Harry on stage to celebrate his team’s victory. However, Markle’s gesture of placing the woman next to her instead of Harry sparked criticism online.

Netizens accuse Meghan Markle of being ‘rude’

Comments on social media platforms including X (formerly Twitter) expressed displeasure with Markle’s behavior, with some labeling her “rude” and “unsafe.”

The poster read: “She awkwardly refused to let the woman take a photo with Harry. So rude.” Others chimed in: “It’s unbelievable how rude she is to other women.”

Another speculated: “She seems insecure about her husband. That’s why she clings to him and any woman who thinks that way.” [stands] Next to him he was told to stand next to her. “

Other commenters angrily commented on Markle’s behavior: “OMG did she just push that woman away?” Embarrassed: “She was so rude. Cringe-worthy.” “I’m embarrassed for her. A lot of people are A missed opportunity to be kind.”

Others also welcomed the opportunity to use humor. “This will become a new meme!” one wrote. “Very insecure woman. I can’t believe she behaved like this in front of millions of people (camera).”

Others recalled a “similar” instance from a previous polo match ceremony.

The royal family, its fans and commentators have long been accused of racially profiled Markle because of her mixed-race heritage and foreign status. Since marrying Harry, Markle has been under intense scrutiny, compared to Kate Middleton and micro-analyzed for every behavior, which she and her husband have called racist.

In explaining the couple’s dramatic exit from royal life in early 2021, Meghan said she was denied help during a mental health crisis, was the target of lies and had official concerns about the skin color of her then-unborn son Archie.

Prince Harry to return to UK in May

Meanwhile, Prince Harry is expected to return to the UK in May to take part in the Invincible Games, a sporting event he founded for wounded and sick service members. There has been speculation that he may visit his ailing father King Charles, who is battling cancer, during the trip. However, it’s unclear whether Markle and their children will accompany him.

In other recent developments, the royal couple have signed a deal with Netflix to star in two new web series based on their interests, potentially covering topics such as cooking, gardening and polo.
