The Fallout show was finally released earlier this week, and overall it’s been met with positive reviews from critics and fans alike — our Alex loved the show so much that he installed both Fallout 4 and The New Dimension Garth,” which should tell you how he feels about it. However, some story beats have some fans wondering if the beloved Obsidian-developed New Vegas is still canon. This is somewhat understandable, as the show didn’t make it clear enough when it was first set up, and there’s a moment I won’t spoil (it’s less than a week old, so we can hold off on spoilers ), which at first glance seems like it could radically change the canon of New Vegas.

If you’re a New Vegas lover, though, you don’t have to worry too much. One fan asked Bethesda design director Emil Pagliarulo directly on Twitter if the RPG game was a classic, and the developer’s response was simple: “Of course it is. We never suggested otherwise.” In fact, Pagliarulo even Key dates outlined The time each game is set, and the show is set in the far future. New Vegas is set in 2281, but the show is set 15 years later in 2296, which means anything that might have happened during that time should make sense.

But for the most part, fans seem pretty excited about the show. Lucy’s backpack and her unique pistol already have a mod. Bethesda is even giving everyone an excuse to get back to Fallout 4, as a next-gen update is coming later this month that will bring some improvements to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game.
