Elden Ring has now been defeated by Morse Code, and yes, watching it happen may make you feel like you’re useless in the game

I’m going to cut to the chase. A streamer just beat Elden Ring using button-operated Morse code – including my friends and yourselves, Malenia. As with all of these types of challenges, it’s an incredibly impressive feat that will no doubt leave you completely stunned because what you’re doing on video games in comparison is How bad.

Of course, we still have a little while before the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC releases, and you’ll have to really remind yourself how much you’re in Fromsoftware’s series of “Here’s a scary person/thing, now slap you.” useless. Or shoot ’em till they drop’ masterpiece. But hey, you better start fixing this now.

Meet streamer Silithur who will help you do just that. They had just finished playing Elden Ring, and they used Morse code to control their character with a very interesting big red button. Yes, when you’re traveling between lands, or nearly having your head chopped off by a boss, it’s their only input into every action you might want to initiate.

For example, here’s a video of them successfully beating Malegna with the button about a week ago, when the run – which started way back in February – was really starting to build momentum. First of all, you can only imagine how heart-wrenching the constant beeping from the frantic dots and dashes must have been for the poor Shilitoul as their furry tarnished figures dodged, Diving, weaving, and stabbing until Malenya stopped doing Malenha things.

The same fate befell the Eldon Beast last weekend, ending a run that seemed part of all the commemoration, with Cilitour outlining in Spanish just how daunting a challenge of this nature can be from a mental perspective. You have to stay calm, especially in a long game situation, and not let your emotions control you when you are close to victory.

This is obvious, but it’s important to keep in mind considering how easy it is for us mere mortals to see someone doing something like this in Elden Ring and assume that they must basically be a FromSoft game-beating bot. Judging from their tweets, it seems like this might be the last challenge for Heilitur for a while, but they did mention DLC at the end, so maybe we’ll see Mesmer tortured to death.
