With just a few weeks until MWC and Samsung’s Mobile Unpacked event, many people didn’t expect to see a Samsung phone at CES, but Samsung Galaxy A14 5G Revealed in Las Vegas.
Samsung’s A-series may not grab as much headlines as the S-series, but it’s been a force to be reckoned with for Samsung Mobile, which has generated significant sales. The Galaxy A14 is a $199 phone that looks like a steal. Just check the specs:
it has a 6.5 inches FHD+ display 90 Hz refresh rate, 5000mAh A battery with 15W charging power and 5G connectivity.
64GB of flash storage may not seem like a lot, but its microSD slot lets you add Additional 1TB of storage capacity at very competitive prices. Guess what: Samsung has such a microSD card waiting for you. Computing tasks are handled by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC and 4GB of RAM.
The camera setup is also attractive, with a 50MP f/1.8 main camera There is a 2MP macro camera on the back.This 13MP selfie camera There’s an f/2.0 lens, and overall, the hardware Samsung has packed into this phone feels like a great value for the money.
The phone is heavy at 167.7 x 78 x 9.1mm, but feels surprisingly light despite weighing 204 grams. The chassis is made of high-quality plastic and looks very durable. Samsung’s engineers have worked hard to make the $199 phone’s finish look and feel pleasing to the eye.
In the end, the Galaxy A14 5G behaves more like a more expensive phone, which we suspect will be key to its success. When the retail unit becomes available, we’re curious to see how it performs in the real world.
