New design, boring camera, goodbye Touch ID

Main points

  • The iPhone SE 4 may ditch Touch ID in favor of a larger display and notch, as well as an OLED screen and USB-C port.
  • The new iPhone SE will feature a stylish 6.1-inch design, a single camera, and will be powered by the A15 chip for improved performance.
  • Exciting new features including Face ID, a flat design and longer battery life make this affordable device a worthy choice.

We’ve been covering iPhone SE 4 rumors for the past four years, and yes, Apple may finally be getting rid of Touch ID in the new version of its more affordable iPhone, or at least that’s what the latest CAD renders suggest. However, you’ll have to wait a while to get your hands on the device, as a 2024 launch doesn’t seem to be planned. Either way, the latest rumors suggest we’ll be getting a larger display with a notch and a single camera, giving the device a much-needed redesign.

We have new information that suggests the new iPhone SE will look better than all its predecessors, as CAD renderings of the purported fourth-generation iPhone SE will feature a 6.1-inch full-screen design display with a notch that could house Apple’s TrueDepth Face ID technology. This redesign will also bring us a flat design and a USB-C port instead of Apple’s lighting technology. The changes were well received, as the current iPhone SE still features curved edges, a 4.7-inch display, a Home button with Touch ID, and large bezels.

Other improvements make it a very attractive option

The new iPhone SE 4 looks very similar to the iPhone 14, at least in terms of size, which is said to be 147mm tall, 71.5mm wide and 7.7mm thick. Apple may also include an OLED display in this iteration. Unfortunately, the camera department doesn’t seem all that excited, as we still get a lens on the back. Nonetheless, rumors suggest that we might get the same 48MP sensor as the iPhone 15.

Apple iPhone SE (2022)

The latest iPhone SE 2022 comes with 5G and the A15 Bionic chip, which is the same SoC as the iPhone 13 series flagship devices. The new iPhone SE is the most affordable iPhone in Apple’s lineup, and it comes with new camera features and longer battery life.

The new 6.1-inch OLED screen and more powerful camera sensor alone are enough to make this device more compelling, but when you also add the Apple A15 chip, a 3,279mAh battery and improved 5G connectivity to the package.
