Comcast and other big cable companies will lose internet customers in 2023 as ‘cord-cutting’ 2.0 develops

In recent years, top cable companies have lost internet customers for the first time in 2023. Top cable companies like Comcast will lose 65,000 customers in 2023, according to a report from Leichtman Research Group. This is lower than the 530,000 users they added. 2023.

Major phone companies such as AT&T also lost more than 80,000 Internet customers in 2023. Most of the losses came from AT&T’s loss of 98,000 subscribers and Lumen’s loss of 279,000 subscribers. These losses were offset by subscriber gains from other companies.

New options like 5G home internet and SpaceX’s Starlink are cutting into customers of traditional internet providers.

To fight back, we’re seeing internet providers increase speeds on new options. Comcast recently announced it would be offering free speed upgrades to millions of customers.
