Samsung to produce rectangular Galaxy watch

Back in 2013, Samsung launched the Galaxy Gear, a smartwatch with a rectangular screen. The identical-looking Gear 2 and Gear Live followed, but since then, the company seems entirely committed to round smartwatches. However, that could soon change if a new report released today is to be believed.

The Korean company is said to be producing square or rectangular smartwatches again, but this time under the brand name of course, Galaxy Watch.

The report claims that Samsung is now “enthusiastically” considering the idea internally, and that “it’s likely that this shift” (to the square/rectangular shape) will happen.

Unfortunately, it’s unclear if the new rectangular Galaxy Watch is the Galaxy Watch 7 that will launch alongside Samsung’s next-generation foldable watch in early to mid-July, or if we’ll have to wait a year until 2025 to see it.

If this does happen, expect to hear more about it in the near future, so stay tuned.
