long story short

  • Some Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 users have reported a new app installation progress indicator that is visible in the app drawer icon.
  • This indicator allows you to easily track the progress of new app downloads and app updates through the Google Play Store without having to check the app list.

The Google Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 are Google’s efforts to create a great smartwatch for Android users. Google has been adding features to the Pixel Watch through Pixel Feature Drop updates that make the watch perform even better than it initially did. One of the changes sneaking in is a new progress indicator for app installations, now shown to some users.

As discovered by user Dimitrios Vlachos and posted by mishal rahman, the Google Pixel Watch starts showing the app installation progress indicator. When you download an app or update through the Google Play Store, this progress indicator appears in the watch’s app drawer.

It’s a small change, but it adds to the Wear OS experience. You can now better measure app installation progress without having to navigate to the app’s store listing.

This change is being implemented for some Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 users. Mishaal mentioned that the feature is not available on OnePlus Watch 2.
