It’s time for another over-the-air update Marvel Snapshot (Free), and thankfully this one is slightly less intense than some of the previous ones. I guess this speaks to the fact that none of Planet Hulk’s new cards seem to make things too unbalanced, which is nice. That said, we do need to consider some changes, and we will consider them.
Let’s start with a very positive change for Luke Cage. He was a common presence in several decks until he was nerfed a few months ago, which seemed to drop him straight to the ground. Well, this update restores his ability to affect all positions instead of just one, but it also makes some changes to his stats in an attempt to find a middle ground. Luke Cage went from 2 cost 3 power to 3 cost 4 power, which officially means he can become a member of the Silver Surfer gang.
Next up is Hulkbuster, which is changing, I wouldn’t call it a nerf or a buff, exactly. The purpose is to weaken Deadpool’s power without completely defeating him. Hulkbuster has been changed from 3-Cost 5-Power to 2-Cost 3-Power, which will allow you to play it earlier and not cause too much trouble for mercs who use mouths.
Heimdall is getting a little bit buffed, and I think this might be overdue. He will go from a 6 cost 8 power card to a 6 cost 9 power card. Still outside Shang-Chi’s target area, but stronger. This isn’t the only change intended to help some of the less played mobile cards, as Spider-Man 2099 will go from 4 cost 6 power cards to 5 cost 9 power cards. This is a huge boost and may lead some players to try cards like Herc.
The last card to be changed in this update is a strange one. I’ve seen Ghost pop up from time to time in some decks, and her ability to control when your “reveal” cards are activated certainly has strategic value. Still, there’s a feeling she might see more games. To do this, she is moving from 1-Cost 2-Power to 3-Cost 5-Power. I think most people want to plan on using her abilities to get some late game surprises, so this should be a positive move for her. Plus, this is another card from the Silver Surfer gang.
This is a summary of this update. Not as big a deal as the last pair, for sure, and if anything, I don’t think it feels like the team has any particularly pressing issues to address other than fixing Luke. Which is better! This means that currently things are balanced. However, I’m sure some of you will see some effects. Will you add these cards to your deck? Or are you just happy to see Luke doing his thing again?
