Selma mobile home communities offer affordable internet | YourCentralValley.com

SELMA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A low-cost internet provider arrived at a Selma senior mobile home community Thursday to help them stay connected with their families.

The service is called Kwikbit, and according to officials, it provides over-the-air fiber optic internet service, bringing affordable opportunities to older mobile home residents so they can stay connected. Kwikbit is designed for communities where broadband access is lagging behind.

Officials say mobile homes have traditionally been underserved by legacy carriers, forcing residents to pay for expensive hotspots or unreliable satellite service.

Kwikbit launched Thursday at McCall Village, a senior mobile home community. For $50 a month, residents can connect to 1 gigabyte of internet in half an hour, officials said.
