Instagram is one of the best apps on Android and may be adding a major new feature in the near future. A recently shared screenshot suggests you may soon be able to backdate your posts.

In the screenshot, there appears to be a “Publish to past” option in the list of sharing options. While the self-proclaimed leaker didn’t say how the information was obtained, he is known for providing reliable tips on Instagram’s growth.

The Publish to Past feature appears with a calendar icon directly above the Quick Publish option. There is an arrow to the right of this option, which indicates that by clicking on this feature you can then select a date to which you want to backdate the post.

If this feature does become available, it remains to be seen what the impact will be. Such posts may contain an indication that they have been backdated. If this is not done, any form of dispute can have a variety of ramifications, from relationship disputes to civil litigation.

The news is the latest in a series of upcoming features for Meta-owned products that Paluzzi has mentioned in recent days. This week alone, leakers have hinted at other upcoming developments, including the ability to send files in Instagram DMs, a new “Shot” story format, and a “Pop-mode” camera tool.
