A new Xbox giveaway is underway, and you can win a cool-looking final fantasy– Theme Xbox Series X game console. Looks great! It also, uh, apparently doesn’t actually work.

Coming soon to Xbox Announced in 2023the popular MMORPG final fantasy 14 Nearly ten years after its release, it finally became playable on Xbox consoles through a public beta in February.Of course, you must pay both FF14 Subscribe and have a Game Pass membership to playBut at least Xbox users finally have a chance to experience this critically acclaimed online RPG.To celebrate this great arrival, Microsoft is giving away a FF14-Themed Xbox console with crystals and glossy blue paint. But don’t try to play FF14 On this console because it’s just a piece of “art.”

March 14, Xbox Post on Twitter (or X or whatever) The company is hosting a brief sweepstakes with the grand prize being a neat-looking Xbox Series X console. Many people shared the tweet and responded with all the appropriate GIFs and images one would expect from someone excited about something. But what most of these people probably don’t realize is that the cool Xbox simply doesn’t work. It’s not their fault. Neither the contest announcement tweet nor any follow-up posts from Xbox explained this fact. Instead, it’s hidden in the lottery rules.

Related text can be found in “Microsoft “Final Fantasy XIV” Promotion Official Rules” In section 4, subsection a, line 1, it is explained what you would actually win if you were picked at random. This is the important point:

“One (1) Grand Prize: One (1) custom designed Final Fantasy XIV Xbox Series X console bundle (non-functional, may be used as artwork)”

Now, don’t worry, Microsoft isn’t going to whip out a game quickly, give you a dead Xbox and Game Pass membership, and tell you to buy a console to actually use it. The same section of the rules explains that you’ll also get a second Xbox available.and one FF14collector’s edition. Still, I wonder how many people entered the game without realizing that the cool Xbox used to promote it was nothing more than a strange-looking piece of “art.”
