StarTech launches 15-in-1 Thunderbolt 4/USB4 docking station that supports quad-screen displays

StarTech.com has unveiled its latest Thunderbolt 4/USB4 dock that has a ton of ports and supports four display outputs. This makes it suitable for 4Kp60 quad-monitor setups commonly used in professional applications. The Thunderbolt 4 Quad Display Dock can also provide up to 98W of power to the host, which is enough to power high-end laptops such as Apple’s MacBook Pro 16.

StarTech’s 15-in-1 docking station (132N-TB4USB4DOCK) has just about everything you’d expect from a docking station designed for demanding professionals such as those working in photography, content creation, video production, and computer-aided design. The device comes with 1 Thunderbolt 4/USB 4 port with 98W power delivery to connect to a host, 1 2.5 GbE adapter, 6 USB Type-A ports (3 supporting 10 Gbps, 2 supporting 5 Gbps, 1 USB 2.0) charging power up to 7.5W), one USB Type-C connector (10 Gbps), four display outputs (two DP 1.4, two HDMI 2.1), one SD card reader with UHS-II support , a UHS-II-capable microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The main selling point of this dock is that it supports up to four monitors. Of course, this is a valuable feature, but it has some problems. The device supports four 4Kp60 displays when connected to a DSC-enabled laptop equipped with Intel’s 12th or 14th Generation Core processors using a Thunderbolt 4 or USB 4 connector. For AMD Ryzen 6000 and Intel 11th Generation Core systems, only three 4Kp60 displays are supported. Meanwhile, for MacBook, users must use two 5Kp60 or one 6Kp60 monitor. The good news is that the Thunderbolt 4 Quad Display Dock requires no drivers and works seamlessly with MacOS, Windows, and ChromeOS.

The dock has a 180W power supply, so it can charge your laptop and power all remaining ports at the same time.

Feature-packed Thunderbolt 4 and USB 4 docks don’t come cheap, as they have to come with fairly expensive controllers, and StarTech’s 15-in-1 dock is no exception, priced at $330.99.

The StarTech.com Thunderbolt 4 Quad Display Docking Station can be purchased directly from the company or through various IT resellers and distributors such as CDW, Amazon, Ingram Micro, TD SYNNEX and D&H.
