Samsung Galaxy S22 series may finally get Galaxy AI features

The Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra launched by Samsung this year incorporate Galaxy AI features, and the company has since promised that these features will come to the S23 series (including the S23 FE) through the upcoming One UI 6.1 update for them at the end of this month.

But the S22 family was excluded. Now it seems that Galaxy AI can still be experienced in 2022 flagship products, although nothing is confirmed yet. TM Roh, president of Samsung’s mobile division, said at the shareholder meeting that the company is actively looking for ways to bring Galaxy AI features to older phones.

The problem is that while some features are cloud-based, some are on-device, which is obviously a roadblock to implementation on the S22 series. Then again, the S23 FE with Galaxy AI has the same chipset as the S22 model, which does not. Roh Moo-hyun said it will take “a lot of effort” to achieve this goal, but Samsung is devoting resources to the task.

Therefore, the S22 series is not necessarily equipped with Galaxy AI, but it is in development. The outcome still appears to be pending, but we’ll let you know if more information becomes available.

On another topic, TM Roh confirmed that Samsung is still developing rollable and slideable devices and is steadily advancing on pre-launch steps such as research and patents. Interestingly, the company now seems more cautious than ever about launching new form factors. The company is still working on these products but is in no rush to bring them to market.
