Android 15 second developer preview brings satellite messaging and more

Google has launched Second developer preview of Android 15, featuring multiple enhancements and the long-awaited satellite messaging feature.This preview is designed to address user concerns, enhance security, and improve existing functionality before final public release It is planned for later this year, probably between August and October.

Key improvements include the app’s better understanding of service availability during satellite connection usage, and the integration of satellite connections to send and receive messages via preloaded RCS apps.The update also includes the following features Screen recording detection Enhance user privacy, improve the reliability of contactless payments using NFC, and improve multilingual audio recognition to prevent missing words when switching languages.

Additionally, developers have greater access to the small overlay screen on flip phones for enhanced functionality, and support for the CTA-2075 loudness standard is designed to provide consistent volume levels for different content. Google has also made major improvements to PDF functionality in the app, with support for password-protected files, annotations, form editing, search, and text selection with copy functionality.

The public beta is expected to be tested between April and July, allowing users to preview the new features and provide feedback before the official release.
