OnePlus 9 Pro, 9 and 8T on T-Mobile get Android 14 update

OnePlus has a surprisingly streamlined product portfolio, with flagship series like the OnePlus 12 taking the spotlight. But not everyone needs to upgrade their phone frequently. If you have an older OnePlus flagship and it’s in good working order, you really don’t need to feel pressure to upgrade to a new phone. The company is now rolling out the official Oxygen OS 14 update based on Android 14 to the T-Mobile variants of OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and OnePlus 8T.

Unlocked versions of the OnePlus 9, 9 Pro, and 8T have received the Android 14 update in the past few weeks. Now, OnePlus is rolling out an update to the T-Mobile phone version.Community members have received the update for their T-Mobile OnePlus 9 (here) and OnePlus 8T (here), and we can confirm via trusted OnePlus Tipper 1 normal username The update is also available for the carrier version of the OnePlus 9 Pro.

In addition to the platform update to “Android OS U” (aka Android 14, codenamed Upside Down Cake), the update also brings forward the carrier versions of the three phones to January 5, 2024. Get the AOSP build of Android 14 here so you actually have Oxygen OS 14.

OnePlus promised at the time that OnePlus 8 series and newer devices would receive three major Android updates and four years of security updates. OnePlus 8T was launched in October 2020 with Android 11, while OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro were launched in March 2021 with Android 11. The bad news is that this Android 14 platform update will be the last for these devices, although they will continue to receive security updates for a few more months.

Starting with the OnePlus 11 series, newer OnePlus flagships promise four Android updates and five years of patches. So if you’re looking for new platform features, you’ll want to consider upgrading to a new phone as soon as possible. On a side note, OnePlus has completed rolling out Oxygen OS 14 on all unlocked devices in the flagship series.
