How to Screen Record on Mac and MacBook

Some simple shortcuts on your Mac can make recording your screen very easy, maybe even easier than Mobile screen recording. These options also allow you to record audio, which will be recorded through your Mac’s built-in microphone or any connected microphone, so don’t expect that you’ll get the best audio quality.

Apple’s screenshot feature also lets you record all or part of your screen. When you try to take a screenshot, simple command To bring up the screen recording toolbar, press Shift + Command + 5. You will then find a toolbar with several buttons at the bottom of the screen. If you want to record the entire screen, select the “Record Entire Screen” button.

If you only want to record a portion of the display, click the “Record Selected Part” button and drag the window out until it’s the right size for your purposes. The small number you choose shows the resolution of the video you will create. After that, click on the record button to start recording. Once you’re done, either bring up the screen recording menu again or click the small “Stop” button, which is now on the right side at the top of the screen and should appear next to the focus button.

You can also let it record audio from your Mac’s microphone or any connected microphone. In the screenshot menu, click Options and select the microphone you want to record. You can also tell the system to record only 5 to 10 seconds of your screen and show your mouse clicks in the resulting video.

If you’re using an older Mac that’s still supported Quicktime player app to record videos, you might also want to try it. While it’s easier to use the built-in keyboard shortcuts, Quicktime offers more options for recording audio at different quality levels. In Quicktime, select File, then New Recording. You can click on the options bar to choose different quality levels. Unfortunately, if you select “New Video Recording” you have no control over the audio quality.
