AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su will deliver the opening keynote at Computex Taipei 2024

Computex organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Association (TAITRA) announced today that AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su will deliver the opening keynote speech at the show. Su’s speech is scheduled for the morning of June 3, 2024, shortly before the official start of the show. AMD said the keynote will “focus on the next generation of AMD products enabling new experiences and breakthrough artificial intelligence capabilities from the cloud to the edge, PCs and smart end devices.”

This year’s Computex focuses on six key areas: artificial intelligence computing, advanced connectivity, future mobility, immersive reality, sustainability and innovation. As a leading developer of CPUs, AI and HPC GPUs, consumer GPUs, and DPUs, AMD is well-positioned to talk about most of these topics.

With most of AMD’s product architectures already in mid-cycle, the company’s latest public roadmap calls for them to deliver major new CPU and GPU architectures, Zen 5 CPUs and RDNA 4 GPUs, respectively, by the end of 2024. AMD has not previously given any more detailed guidance on when it will launch this hardware, although AMD’s overall plans for 2024 are significantly more aggressive than the start of the last architecture cycle in 2022. Notably, the company has previously stated that it intends to launch all 3 Zen 5 architectures this year, not just the base core, but also Zen 5c and Zen 5 with V-Cache, as well as a new mobile SoC (Strix Point ). In contrast, AMD took a long time to do the same with Zen 4 after launching its first products in the fall of 2022, until 2023.

This upcoming keynote will be Lisa Su’s third Computex keynote after speaking at Computex 2019 and Computex 2022. At both events, she also announced upcoming AMD products.

In 2019, she demonstrated performance improvements for the then-upcoming third-generation Ryzen desktop processors and 7nm EPYC data center processors. Lisa Su also highlighted AMD’s progress in 7-nanometer process technology, demonstrating the world’s first 7-nanometer gaming GPU Radeon VII and the first 7-nanometer data center GPU Radeon Instinct MI60.

In 2022, AMD leaders previewed the then-upcoming Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors based on the Zen 4 architecture, promising significant performance improvements. She also previewed the next generation of Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs using the RDNA 3 architecture.
