The Realme Narzo 70 Pro was released last week, and it’s a 5G mid-range phone that strives to be good at everything. The display is flat (unlike the 60 Pro), and it’s a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED panel. The phone is powered by the same Dimensity 7050 as before, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (256GB available for Rs 2,000 more).
Instead of a 100MP camera, the new model comes with a 50MP main camera (1/1.56-inch, OIS), and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera is added. Unfortunately, this change comes at the expense of 4K video recording. On the plus side, the 70 Pro has a 3.5mm headphone jack and an IP54 rating. There are no changes to the 5000mAh battery and 67W charging.
The Samsung Galaxy F15 was launched earlier this month and features a 6.6-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display. This one is at the entry level and comes with Dimensity 6100+ with 4GB RAM (you can get 2 extra gigs for Rs 1,500). On the back is a 50MP main camera and a 5MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The phone has a large 6,000mAh battery that supports 25W charging, a microSD slot, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Please note that this device has 5G connectivity.
Launched this week, the Poco C61 is another entry-level offering. It’s cheaper, and it’s 4G-only (Helio G36), and the 6.71-inch IPS LCD only has HD+ resolution (it does run at 90Hz, for what it’s worth). The rear camera is a basic 8MP snapper, and there’s a 5,000mAh battery with basic 10W charging. The microSD slot and 3.5mm jack are nice, though.
But look at the old Poco C55. Its 90Hz IPS LCD has FHD+ resolution, and inside is the more powerful Helio G88. It’s no speed demon, but it’s better than the G36. The rear camera has a 64MP resolution, coupled with a 5,000mAh battery with faster charging and 33W power. Guess which of these two models is cheaper?
Speaking of cheap, the Lava O2 is already available for pre-order and you can buy it for about the same price as the C61. It’s very similar to the 6.5-inch 90Hz IPS LCD (HD+, of course) and the Unisoc T616 chipset. The 5000mAh battery has a slight advantage when charging at 18W.
OnePlus has chosen an interesting date to launch the Nord CE4: Monday, April 1. The Amazon landing page promises a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, along with 100W SuperVOOC charging and an FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display. Stay tuned for more details.
Tecno Pova 6 Pro will be available on April 4 and as an early bird bonus, you will get Tecno S2 Bluetooth Speaker (worth Rs 5,000). The phone itself has a spacious 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED display (FHD+) and a Dimensity 6080 chipset. The 108MP camera looks lonely on the back, but the 32MP selfie camera has a dual-LED flash to accompany it. The phone is equipped with a large 6000mAh battery and supports 70W fast charging. The storage space is expandable and the stereo speakers come with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Honor Pad 9 has also been pre-ordered and is now on sale on Amazon. The 12.1-inch IPS LCD runs at 120Hz and offers 120Hz color. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 isn’t the fastest, but it’s efficient. The Slate packs eight speakers in a 7mm-thick aluminum body, along with an 8,300mAh battery and 35W charging.
If that’s too expensive, look at the older Honor Tablet 8. It also has a 12-inch IPS LCD with 10-bit color, but it’s limited to 60Hz. The Snapdragon 680 is quite old at this point, and the battery is smaller and slower (7,250mAH with 22.5W charging). You still get 8 speakers, though, so it’s a good streaming machine.
We wrap this up with a few of Samsung’s “coming soon” devices – the Galaxy M55 and M15. The M55’s 5,000mAh battery charges at an “impressive” 45W – the first non-flagship Samsung product to achieve such high power. The 6.7-inch 120Hz FHD+ OLED display guarantees always-on functionality. The rear-facing 50MP camera has a large sensor (1/1.56”) and OIS, and there’s also an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 wouldn’t be our first choice, but at least you get expandable storage and stereo speakers.
As for the Galaxy M15, it’s almost identical to the F15 we saw above. The only notable difference is the display, but even that isn’t that noticeable – it’s a 6.5-inch panel instead of 6.6-inch (both FHD+ 90Hz OLED).
