Jeff Minter Story Releases March 13, New Verified Gameplay, and More – TouchArcade

Welcome to this week’s slightly shorter Steam Deck Weekly. I’m a little under the weather this week, so no reviews for this build, but there’s plenty of news and new Steam Deck verified and playable games to learn about. I have some special plans for next week that I hope will work out. Until then, I’d been playing a lot of Balatro, Sokobond Express, and a few other games on the Steam Deck that I can’t talk about yet. Yes, I still play balatero. Before I get back to running again, let’s catch up on the news.

information

Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rise, which I enjoyed very much at the end of last year, added the latest DLC character in 2B of NieR: Automata. 2B can be purchased separately or included in Character Pass 1 or Deluxe Character Pass 1. In addition to 2B, there is also “Princess Connect”! Re:Dive Premium Avatar Packs are also available for purchase. Watch the 2B trailer for Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising:

Announced at the recent Nintendo Direct, Atlus will be bringing an updated, enhanced, and expanded version of Shin Megami Tensei V to Steam and consoles in the form of Shin Megami Tensei V: Revengeance. I really enjoyed Shin Megami Tensei V on Switch and played it many times. I’ll definitely be replaying it and checking out Shin Megami Tensei V: Revenge’s new story route. I hope this version addresses the character development and narrative issues that were lacking in Shin Megami Tensei V, as it was otherwise pretty amazing. I’m also looking forward to the new music and seeing how it plays out on Steam Deck and PS5 when it launches on June 21st. Watch the trailer below:

This summer, Capcom is releasing the excellent first Monster Hunter Story on PC, Switch, and PlayStation, complete with all of the game’s updates, including the ones we didn’t get on Western phones or 3DS. I enjoyed playing this game on 3DS and iOS, so will be checking it out on Steam Deck and Switch. Watch the trailer below:

Llamasoft: The Jeff Minter Story in Digital Eclipse will be released on Steam and consoles worldwide on March 13. This is the second volume in the Digital Eclipse Golden Master series, following the most advanced “The Making of Karate”. Llamasoft: Jeff Minter’s Story includes Jeff Minter’s classic works such as Llamatron, a remastered version of Digital Eclipse’s Gridrunner, the Light Synthesizer, and more. Sean and myself will both be reporting on this, so stay tuned.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced Gundam Breaker 4 for Steam, Switch, PS5, and PS4, with the game actually launching globally later this year. In the past, I imported Gundam Breaker games from Asia to play on PS Vita and PS4 because they were never released in the West. I’m excited to see Gundam Breaker 4 not only poised to be the biggest title yet, but also launching day one on PC. Watch the trailer for Gundam Breaker 4 below:

Bandai Namco also revealed new Sandlot gameplay, and it looks surprisingly good. Definitely much better than I expected. I’m not very familiar with the source material, but the gameplay here intrigued me.

Mortal Kombat 1 has released a new trailer, which shows off Peacemaker, which will be released on February 28, but the real highlight is that Krossplay will also be released on the same day. Krossplay will allow PS5, Xbox Series X, Steam and Epic Games Store players to play games online, conduct matchmaking, private matches and view leaderboard statistics. As expected, Krossplay will not be available on Switch. Mortal Kombat 1 will also be available as a free trial on PS5, Xbox Series X and Steam from March 7th to 10th. Details of the trial can be found here . Watch the new Peacemaker trailer below:

Raw Fury has announced that Snufkin: Melody of Moominvally will be released on Steam and Switch on March 7, with a mobile version to follow. This cozy musical adventure aims to bring Tove Jansson’s world of Moomin to life. I’d probably hold off on playing this game on iOS, but it does look good. Watch the new trailer below:

Singularity 6 will bring Palia to Steam on March 25, with special rewards for players who add it to their wishlist and log in within the first 30 days. This free-to-play comfortable simulation MMO features cross-platform play on Switch and PC and will receive more content through frequent updates. Check out the trailer below:

Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader, from the amazing team at Owlcat Games, received a major update a few days ago, which includes a ton of fixes, combat balance updates, new voice dialogue, and more. Check out the full patch notes here. I’ve been playing and enjoying this game on the Steam Deck for a while now. I hope to complete my review in the near future. Watch the new trailer celebrating 500,000 copies sold and more below:

Racing Adventure Game What is this car? Racing from Apple Arcade to Steam. It’s set to be released later this year, and I imagine it will be released on Switch as well, but it’s currently only available on Steam. I enjoyed this game on Apple Arcade and will be replaying it on Steam Deck. Watch the trailer below:

The last bit of news is that Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC finally has gameplay, a price, and a release date. The game was released on the same day as “Shin Megami Tensei V: Revengeance”, with a DLC priced at $40 and a Premium Bundle priced at $50, including the soundtrack and digital artbook. As expected, it looks incredible. Watch the trailer below:

Steam Deck game sales and discounts

The Earth Defense Force series has its own sale right now, and if you haven’t tried the series before, the low prices make it worth checking back more often now. Story of Seasons, Rune Factory, Daemon X Machina and more from Xseed Games are on sale until Monday at discounted prices. The last sale of note is 2K, whose 2024 publisher sale is now open, and I recommend picking up Marvel’s Midnight Suns and WWE 2K23.

That’s all for this week’s Steam Deck weekly report. Hopefully there will be more Steam Deck coverage next week. As always, you can read all of our past and future Steam Deck coverage here. If you have any feedback on this feature or what you’d like us to do on the Steam Deck, please let us know in the comments below. I hope you all have a great day and thank you for reading.
