Sony will use a new “PS5 Pro Enhanced Edition” label to tell players which games take advantage of the console’s new features, according to the filing. Insider Game yesterday. The outlet writes that to earn the label, games must offer PS5 Pro graphics mode, which includes PSSR for 4K upscaling, a constant 60fps frame rate, and added or improved ray tracing. It also reportedly shows higher resolutions for fixed and variable refresh rate games.
The site says that the internally named “TrinityEnhanced” tag will be similar to the “PS4 Pro Enhanced” tag of the previous generation of PlayStation (or the “X|S” tag, indicating that the game has improvements such as better load times or higher frame rates). It also tells players when a game received graphics upgrades for then-new systems, but not necessarily a combination of improvements.
The PS5 Pro is rumored to launch in late 2024, about a year after the smaller PS5 was released last November. Compared to the regular PS5, it has 4x better ray tracing performance, 10% higher CPU frequency than the original console, 28% faster memory, and up to 45% higher rendering performance.
