Last week we looked at offers for unlocked Galaxy S24 flagships – the S24+ starts at $850 and the S24 Ultra starts at $1,150. By the way, these deals are still available, but they lack the regular Galaxy S24.
If you prefer Samsung’s smallest flagship, the Galaxy S24 starts at $750. Note that this is with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage (rather than 12/256GB like the other two). There’s no 12GB RAM option, but you can buy 256GB of storage for $810. But that’s only $50 cheaper than the 12/256GB S24+.

While we were browsing Best Buy, an iPad deal caught our eye. The Apple iPad (2022) may use the relatively older Apple A14 chipset, but it has a modern USB-C port (with DisplayPort). And the chip is incredibly fast, especially compared to similarly priced Android tablets. The 10.9-inch 60Hz IPS LCD supports the first-generation Apple Pencil.
If you do find that the A14 isn’t fast enough for your needs, you can buy an Apple iPad Air (2022) with M1 for $100 more. The rest of the tablet is pretty much the same, including the 60Hz LCD (except for support for the second-generation Pencil). Note that Apple doesn’t offer a 128GB option, so if you need more than 64GB of storage (which many people probably do), you’ll have to pay for the maximum 256GB model.
Apple has not updated the iPad mini since 2021. That makes the $400 price tag for the 64GB model hard to swallow, but small tablets are a dying genre and there aren’t many alternatives.
Also starting in 2021, but this time at an affordable price, is the iPad 10.2. At $250 for the 64GB model, it’s a nifty “kid’s first tablet,” or just a casual browsing and streaming device. The 256GB model simply isn’t worth spending $400 on – at which point you might as well spend an extra $100 on the 2022 model. The 2021 model uses an older chip, less memory, and a now-obsolete Lightning port.
If you decide a Windows tablet is better for you, the Microsoft Surface Go 3 8/128GB model is on sale for $450. It is powered by Intel Pentium Gold 6500Y (ancient 14nm node, 2 cores, 4 threads, 7W cTDP). It features a 10.5-inch LCD with FHD+ resolution (3:2), 3.5mm headphone jack, 1 USB-C, and a microSD slot.
Back to Apple, a few weeks ago we took a look at the MacBook sales. Now let’s consider a stationary application – an Apple Mac mini with an M2 chip (10-core GPU). It comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage. There is 1 HDMI, 4 Thunderbolt ports, and 2 USB ports.
The second-generation Apple Watch SE 40mm GPS version is available for as low as $200. The 44mm version is $30 more, and both versions are $50 more if you want LTE connectivity.
Finally, if you’ve never spent much time with VR, you can give the older version of Meta Quest 2 a try for as little as $200. The Quest 3 is more powerful (with features like color passthrough for AR apps), but it’s more than double the price. Apple Vision Pro is 17.5 times more expensive.
