Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is lighter and thinner than its predecessor

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 weighs 239 grams, which is much lower than the Fold5’s 253 grams, and is only 2 grams heavier than the heavier version of the Honor Magic V2 (the lighter version is 8 grams heavier). This also means that the Fold6 will weigh as much as the lighter version of the OnePlus Open, and 6 grams lighter than the heavier version of the Open.

But wait, there’s more! According to the same source (the usually reliable Ice Universe), the Fold6 is 5.6mm thick when open and 12.1mm thick when closed. For comparison, please note that the thickness dimensions of the Fold5 are 6.1 mm and 13.4 mm, the thickness dimensions of the Honor Magic V2 are 4.7/4.8 mm and 9.9/10.1 mm, and the thickness dimensions of the OnePlus Open are 5.8 mm and 11.7 mm respectively.

To be sure, the Fold6 will still be the thickest of the bunch, but Samsung is finally really competing on thickness and weight with its larger foldables, and it’s certainly been a long time coming. Of course, if this rumor is true, it’s just a rumor for now, so keep that in mind.

Regardless, Ice Universe goes on to say that the Fold6’s inner screen will maintain a 7.6-inch diagonal, while the overlay screen will be even lower – while the Fold5’s aspect ratio was 23.1:9, this one will increase the aspect ratio to 22:9, wider and shorter when closed. The screen diagonal has also increased from 6.2 inches to 6.3 inches.

Now, while Ice Universe says these measurements are for the “regular” Fold6, another prominent leaker @OnLeaks claims they’re actually more likely to be the rumored Fold6 Ultra, as his CAD files show the non-Ultra model when unfolded The thickness is 6.1mm. As they say, the plot gets thicker and Fold6 gets thinner (is that really true?).
