Jonathan Nolan Still Wants to Finish ‘Westworld’

While the mainstream discussion surrounding Westworld seemed to hit a cliff once the third season began, and the story’s setting and overall flow changed dramatically, the show’s final two seasons were actually poorly received by critics and Most of the audience’s praise. However, HBO dropped the Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy series after season four, leaving the ambitious sci-fi drama without a proper ending. Nolan is currently busy promoting Amazon’s Fallout TV show, but he still hopes to change that.

Amazon MGM Studios, Bethesda Game Studios and Kilt Films’ ambitious adaptation of the iconic post-apocalyptic game is coming, and Nolan was asked by Entertainment Weekly if he still wants to wrap up ” Westworld” story. Long story short: Yes, it sounds like he has a plan.

“Yes. 100 percent…we are completionists…it took me eight years and a change of directors to make Interstellar. We wanted to finish the story we started,” explains the Fallout co-creator. “I’m very proud of what we’ve done. It’s been an extraordinary experience. I think it would be wrong to look back with only regret [over how it ended]. But still very eager to finish it. “

We often hear the creatives behind canceled shows discussing their plans. Meanwhile, Nolan’s words seem to indicate that he hasn’t given up on Westworld yet and is hoping to find an ending in town. Mind you, this approach has worked in the past, sometimes even under the same company that originally axed the show, as was the case with Netflix’s Sense8 .

It’s also important to point out that Warner Bros. Discovery Channel’s Max (formerly HBO Max) has also gone to great lengths to remove HBO-produced series from its own streaming service and ship them to third-party owned free and ad-supported shows. Make money quickly on supported platforms. No matter how you feel about the later seasons of “Westworld,” it’s a little disgusting to see an Emmy-winning “prestige” series treated so unfairly.

It’s hard to predict where Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy will go next, but that may depend in part on the response to Fallout, which seems to have At least The visuals were finalized and all episodes were finally released on Prime Video on April 11. In the meantime, we’re also waiting for Fallout 4’s promised current-gen upgrade, but if you’d like, you can start playing the 2015 version of the new game in anticipation of shinier graphics.
